City-Wide Parking Ordinance Changes? Mtg Dec 18.

On January 18, the City Council considers a draft parking ordinance. Directions were given to Staff on December 21 to provide an ordinance that met the following basic parameters:

  • Residential: Prohibition against parking of oversized vehicles (e.g., RVs, trailers, buses, vans, etc.) in residential neighborhoods at any time, with some exceptions for short term needs by residents or visitors of residents.

  • Commercial/Industrial: Prohibition against parking of oversized vehicles (e.g., RVs, trailers, buses, vans, etc.) in commercial and industrial areas during daytime (for example 6:00am to 10:00pm). Plan for timed daytime parking in these areas.

Here's how you can provide your input:

  • Email the City Council: Direct your email to City Clerk Mary Gourley (mgourley@cityofsebastopol.org). Begin with "Dear Mayor Slayter and City Councilmembers," so our City Clerk will know to forward your comments to the Council.
  • Email Diana your comments (drich@cityofsebastopol.org). If you want them shared will all City Councilmembers, please make that clear and I'll forward your email to the City Clerk to forward to the full Council.
  • Attend the City Council meeting on January 18, and offer your comments during public comment on the item. The Agenda and zoom link will be posted on the meeting webpage by Thursday January 13.
  • Offer your comments at the City Council meeting on January 4. The parking ordinance is not on the Agenda for January 4, but at the beginning of the meeting there will be time for "public comments on items not on the agenda." If you have serious concerns you'd like to have heard before the draft parking ordinance is ready to submit to the City Council, January 4 would be a good time to share those views.
